In the preview update 4, CafeTran adds the selection recording feature to its CT-L1 Linguist. From the Knowledge Base article:
To reduce the number of AI queries for selected phrases, CafeTran offers the build-in selection recording feature. It remembers your selections and then sends them all in one batch to AI for translation or explanation.
You can activate selection recording via the Edit > Selection recording menu (F5 shortcut). The button with the mouse icon will appear in the source segment toolbar. Next, just keep selecting your phrases and click the mouse button after each selection to record it. You can skip the button clicking if you choose "Automatic selection recording" in the mouse button options.
After a certain number of selections, click the mouse button and choose Translate in the button options. All the selected phrases will be sent to AI for the specified prompt (translation, explanation etc.). Alternatively, you can trigger the Translate prompt if you click the mouse button while holding the Shift key.
The mouse button options appear when there is no selection.
The preview update 5 enables navigating through the messages sent to ChatGPT via the last line of CT-L1 Linguist editor. The up arrow key goes back to the previous messages and the down arrow key goes forward in the list of sent messages.

CafeTran Espresso 12 is just around the corner featuring CT-L1 Linguist which provides the Human-AI interface for language-related tasks. In its initial release, CT-L1 Linguist is powered by ChatGPT API offering the whole range of linguistic functions such as translation, correction, definition of terms, rephrasing and shortening of sentences, suggestion of synonyms. These are only a few predefined prompts which can be adjusted by translators according to their preferences.
CT-L1 Linguist also includes the chat editor where the user can ask the AI language models questions which arise during translation or reviewing. Chatting with AI can solve lots of terminology issues quickly and efficiently. The huge advantage of CT-L1 Linguist is the smooth and unobtrusive integration into the translation process with the predefined messages for the AI triggered automatically or manually.
The design of the interaction with AI language models in CafeTran allows the translator to assume a role of the supervisor reviewing the quality, modifying and accepting each single AI response as a translation or terminology suggestion.
As a developer and a science fiction fan, I am thrilled by the advances in technology. I tend to look at the bright side of those emerging AI systems being a kind of helpful assistant droids (such as TARS and CASE in Interstellar or C-3PO and R2-D2 in Star Wars movies) and giving a hand to experts in their profession.
CT-L1 stands for the first generation of CafeTran Linguist. :-)
