Runtime update for CafeTran on Mac

Please follow the below instructions to update Java runtime for CafeTran to 15.0.1 version on Mac OSX.

  1. Run CafeTran and make sure that it runs on Java 11 or a higher version - see Java version in CafeTran's Help > About panel. Then, exit the program.
  2. Download CTERuntimeMac-15.0.1.zip file from here and place it in the folder of your choice (e.g Desktop).
  3. Unpack it and find the folder named "runtime".
  4. In Finder, go to Applications and right-click at CafeTran.app there. From the context menu, choose "Show Package Contents" and go to Contents > Java inside the package. Next, find the folder with the name "runtime" there and rename that folder (e.g. to runtime-12 where the number is your current Java version as shown in the Help > About  panel). It will be your backup runtime in case of any issues with the new runtime.
  5. Copy the unpacked runtime folder into the above Contents > Java directory inside CafeTran.app package.
  6. Launch CafeTran and check if CafeTran's Help > About panel > Java version shows the latest Java 15.0.1 version.

3. Unpack it and you will find a folder named "runtime"

Can you please update the download link to the latest Java version?

Can I simply copy the Java 19 runtime from the CafeTran Espresso installation on my MacBook Pro to the iMac (where CafeTran Espresso uses Java 17)?

Just replace the runtime folder? Or is there more to do?

It should work. However instead of the initial replacement, rename the current runtime folder (e.g runtime-backup), and then copy the new runtime. If all goes well, you can put to bin the previous runtime later.

Thank you, Igor!

Looks like it worked:

For those dare devils that want to update their Java version too, but don't have  a second system to install the DMG, I have placed the Java runtime here.
