Grid background colors: some segments are darker than the others

P.S. And two segments later it's back to light grey when I confirm a segment. I have not changed anything. Strange.
You may have set the "Checked" (dark grey color) status for the segment by using CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER shortcut instead of CTRL+ENTER.

Is there a documentation entry on the colors of the grid background? Some segments are dark grey, some other are light grey. What is the difference?
I have also unintentionally triggered some change by pressing a shortcut, and now every segment I confirm with Ctrl+Enter becomes dark grey instead of light grey as before. Any ideas what setting I have changed?
