This procedure is handy to deal with segments that have 'complex' combinations of letters and numbers (e.g. in tables of content), but that can be sorted alphabetically easily.

  • Choose Filter > Sort alphabetically
  • Note the range of the segments that you want to lock (e.g. 1-7).
  • Open the Find & Replace dialogue box. Since the sorting already uses a filter, you have to select Multiple filter(s).
  • Select the Segment numbers checkbox.
  • Type the desired range in the Find box.
  • Choose the Project source segments scope in the Default scope group.
  • In the filtered view, choose¬†Task > Transfer source segments to target segments.

  • While still in the filtered view, choose Task > Lock segments, to make sure that the segments won't get modified.
  • Close the filtered view by clicking on the Filter funnel symbol.
