Using a TM with another target language for reference

I have a project with SL = DE and TL = NL.

I also have a TM from the same (or a similar) project with SL = DE and TL = EN.

Since it's useful for me to see how my English colleague interpreted and translated the segments, I'd like to see the corresponding English target segment (if it exists) for each German segment.

How would you set this up?

  • Open tmx file in text editor
  • Replace <tuv xml:lang="en-EN"> to <tuv xml:lang="nl-NL">
  • Check that no <tuv xml:lang="en…"> has remained
  • Set to read only, keep out of AA and AC

Not the most elegant, but the fastest way, IMHO. A feature "Show also entries from other languages, no AC, no AA" would be cool.

Glad you requested (this will be booked from your credits).

Same for glossaries please.

If the source language in both translation memories is the same as in the project, CafeTran will detect another target language automatically and sets it up for you in the TM pop-up options - language fields.

Wow. Another strike of genius.

You sometimes  support each other requests even without checking if they are actually implemented. :)

Yes, we are all humans.

I think you meant "genie" ;)
