REQ: Show all terms (reloaded)

This discussion has deviated a bit, so here we are again.

We have terms with the same source, different target, nothing else.

CT shows them all as long as you have „Display longest match only“ deactivated. With „Display longest match only“ being activated it only shows the most recent entry. I do not understand the logic behind it.

To explain it: Assume the following

welding device                Schweißgerät

welding device                Schweißmaschine

welding device button     Schweißmaschinentaste

This is very typical for clients that offer several possibilities in their glossaries (for different reasons) and for distracted transaltors (shit happens).

With „Display longest match only“ deactivated, you will get „Schweißmaschinentaste“ for „welding device button“, but you will in this case also get both alternatives for „welding device“ (wasting GUI space). You will get much more term results you won't need.

With „Display longest match only“ activated, you will only get „Schweißmaschinentaste“ for „welding device button“, but you will get only one alternative for „welding device“ in other sentences where the shorter source term is. You will get less term results than you perhaps need.

It is even worse. In the case described above („Display longest match only“ on, identical source terms), the glossary does not reflect the most recent entry, but the longer target term entry. This is absurd.

And it does not even reflect this more recent entry in the Autocomplete pane in first instance.

>..but the longer source term entry.

True. "Display longest match only“ option does what it says.

>..but the longer source term entry.

Sorry, corrected to target term. See above.

CafeTran does display duplicates with the „Display longest match only“ option activated, but currently they need to be in the concise (as synonyms) form.  The source term duplicates in separate rows may be handled soon as well. Thanks!

This sounds quite erratic. Can you give an example?

Synonyms in a glossary entry can be separated by a semicolon such as: brave;courageous;valiant;heroic instead of having a separate entry for each term.
