The new build (2018060601) of update 9 is available. The right-click Matchboard option "Shorten match information" is further enhanced by reducing the resource name to two letters and omitting the percentage symbol next to fuzzy matches. The change saves some more vertical space in the Matchboard, which is important for smaller screens.

Please download and install the new build of the update 9 as described in the announcement post above. Thank you.

Placing editors inside the grid for one of the six layouts (Layout 6 Compact) has the best of the two "worlds" - maintaining CafeTran's editors flexibilty and independence from the rest of the interface as well as visual compactness and independent scrolling of both the upper and lower part of the grid. Users can still adjust editor's size, orientation and alignment as they wish. I think, after a few nice improvements in the Layout 6 - Compact introduced in the previous update, any additional changes might mean sacrificing the mentioned benefits - for example, we can't have both aligned and independent scrolling because the scrollbars appear (in the editors and the grids) as they are needed. Sometimes trying too hard can spoil the desired effect or the uniqueness of the design.

Great. However ...

... some really minor points:

  • the box does not have the very same alignment when one of the grids (here below) has a scroll bar. This might also vary when the numbers get bigger (I assume they rarely have more than four digits).
  • the box varies in size when having a match value (and also when changing from one to two digits and so on). I think Igor wanted to make it as small as possible. Wouldn't a fixed size (corresponding with the box limits above and down) be more appealing than save a bit of space?
  • the mid line (between source and target) should correspond to the (not changeable) midline of the grid line, but still allow adjustments

The total number of segments is the constant info and it is displayed at the top of the grid. Besides, it would take too much space for, say, 1234/12345 display in the target segment editor.

Very nice :-)

It would be nice to see also the total number of segments. For example, like this: 16/456.

(Segment 16 of 456)
