CafeTran puts no carriage return before closing
quotation mark. There is only one closing quotation mark where it does:
the German one.
Simply try to copy and extend the
sentence "this looks like a funny German joke": here it works, no
carriage return before the ". With „this looks like a funny German joke“
this should not work.
It is the Alt-2 or Alt-Shift-^ shortcut on the German keyboard layout (Mac) and has the Unicode-Number U+201C. All other closing quotation marks I tested work fine concerning this feature.
It is irritating that Unicode names it „Initial Punctuation“. In German it is not initial. See also here.
