CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 23

Hi,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 23 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20171010_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded .zip file into CafeTran's Dashboard - the first screen after the start.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

  • Masking of non-translatable fragments for MT online services. The feature is on by default and can be deactivated in Edit > Preferences > MT services tab. All non-translatable fragments longer than 3 characters are masked before being submitted for Machine Translation - both via API and the Web interface. You can see the masking effect in MT tabs. The unmasked translation result is displayed in the Matchboard and after the transfer to the target segment. The masking feature does not work with the right-click "Create TMX memory" MT function.
  • Added Euroglot as a web resource (see the Resources > Web menu) to CafeTran interface.
  • A new "Find in page" keyboard shortcut in the Edit menu to search for word occurrences on a web page.
  • A keyboard shortcut (CTRL+SHIFT+K) for deactivating a filter in the Filter menu.
  • Basic order registering and invoicing feature moved from "Project Configuration" panel to the Statistics display.

And you said, you'd stop enhancing the feature pack :). This is great!

Not true :) I only commented on avoiding to bloat the software interface with rare or exotic functions.

And don't forget the ones, not mentioned here ;). Like the fixing of purple for non-translatables from Non-translatables glossaries. Consistency all the way.

I see them purple. CT adjusted that color to the masking feature.

Yes, all's perfect here. (And there!)

Very cool! 

Yeah, Michael, perhaps after your current Word > Studio > Déjà Vu journey you can come back here, where you belong?

Hi,

The new build of update 23 (2017101102) is available for download with the following fixes and improvements:

- Saving the xliff file - in multi-file projects - which has been affected by cross-file auto-propagation automatically at exit.

- Fixed some dialog overlapping issues on Mac OS.

- Trimming of non-translatable fragments at masking them for Machine Translation services.

Please update the program as described in the announcement post above.

Very nice!

Even the info in the DeepL browser is zorro'd!

The new build of update 23 (2017101201) is available for download with the following:

- Added Euroglot as a web resource (see the Resources > Web menu) to CafeTran interface. This online resource requires login but there is a 10 minute free trial too.

Please update the program as described in the announcement post above.

Hello,

I have some Web resources where the login does not work in CafeTran [Linux, latest CT version, Java 9] (no password error, it's like if the page gets simply refreshed).

- Reverso - http://context.reverso.net/traduction/

- TheSketchEngine - https://the.sketchengine.co.uk/

- LeRobert - https://www.lerobert.com/

I recall I have been able to connect to Reverso and (a few times only, after several trials) to TheSketchEngine in the past. Never been able to use LeRobert.

At the same time, I have another resource where I have entered a code to remove ads and they are removed across sessions, so it does not seem to be a cookies issue.

Is this related to the Java change or anything else? Any pointers ?

Jean
