I couldn't test it, of course, but "Translate selected fragment" is a standard feature for MTs. And you know what? You can automate it...

Short answer, yes!
If you press Alt+Enter as soon as you arrive at a new segment, it gets copied to DeepL, just as if you had pressed the Translate button. Very very convenient.
Alt+Enter / Translate button also removes the source tags which is good : if you copy from source segment, you get tags, One tag such as <x0></x0> is often enough to stop DeepL from providing translation past the tag or at all.
Of course, if you select a word or words in the source segment, then Alt+Enter launches a search for this and stops copying to DeepL, which is fine (by the way, in the past, I think Alt+Enter launched an MT search, as well, not just TM search, as if pressing Ctrl+Shift+F9. I think I liked that, but it's OK now as well). Just deselect source text and Alt+Enter can be reused to copy the whole segment to DeepL. At times, deselecting source text does not revert back to previous behaviour, but that is true both for Translate button and its shortcut. It works again on the next segment.
The only thing I find a little disturbing visually is the Matchboard flashing while is loading the results when you press Translate or Alt+Enter. Also, sometimes, the Matchboard stays empty a tad longer than expected.

Regarding the upcoming Java 9 version, what changes will it bring to CafeTran users?
Will the internal CT browser be more compatible with some websites?
Is this internal browser provided by Java alone?
I saw that the Java browser plug-in will be discontinued in Java 9 version.
Does this have any implications for CT's internal browser?
In fact, I would appreciate any link related to CT's internal browser feature and Java 9.

Sorry, I misunderstood the purpose was phase 2, to copy back to CT.
Drag and paste is so convenient I haven't felt the need to find another solution.
DeepL translate box editing feature is very good, so Bind external editor is a nice touch, I'm trying it out as we speak, although I'll probably stick to Drag and paste, to Keep It Simple Stupid (the KISS principle). :-)

It is already very good. I hope Oracle will keep developing it in Java 9.

Yes. It is a part of the latest GUI Java libraries.

Java browser plugin is for external web browsers (e.g Firefox, Chrome, Safari).

I can confirm the Java 8 issue on Mac with the display of DeepL and a few other web resources is fixed in the coming update of Java 8 too. Early access of Java 8 build 152 (JRE) can be downloaded from here: http://jdk.java.net/8/.

The new build of update 21 (2017090802) is available for download with the following improvements and fixes:
- The editors binding via clipboard on Mac OS works with text areas inside the internal web browser (e.g DeepL web resource). Note that you can place the pipe character "|" in the bound editor to indicate the position of formatting tags.
- Added the support for comments in .txml files.

Hi there,
CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 21 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:
1. Run CafeTran.
2. Download 20170901_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.
Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.
3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.
Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.
What's new:
Due to a Java 8 issue on Mac OS, the DeepL web resource is not displayed properly in the internal web browser on Mac systems. The issue has been reported and is fixed in the coming Java 8 build 152 and Java 9. Early access of Java 8 build 152 (JRE) can be downloaded from here: http://jdk.java.net/8/.The typical workflow with Machine Translation service as a web resource (which is not available via API yet) is as follows:
