What does this error message mean?


As per subject.

"The markup declarations contained or pointed to by the document type declaration must be well-formed."

The files open and are processed well in Trados and WFPro, but in CT I get the above error message.



Sorry, I should have said that we're speaking sdlxliff files here.


It looks like Java XML parser included in CafeTran finds a XML error in your file. You can submit a ticket with one such file to make sure it is the case indeed.

I think I found the culprit for misbehaving. It's not the sdlxliff files actually but the TMX exported from WFPro. I committed all segments already translated with WFPro to a new TMX but this again is not well formed.


You read all the time about wfp misbehaving with TMX. "biggest" cross platform they claim, but they cannot get the basics sorted.
Didn't know about that. Quite a good argument not to buy this CAT tool.
