Auto-complete without auto-assembling

I know have some scanned dictionaries active as secondary glossaries. I've set them with AA disabled. They still display hits nicely. Every now and then I'd like to be able to quickly use a target term from these glossaries. I have to use the mouse for that.

Would it be possible to get these target terms via AC, even when AA is disabled? Or is AA a prerequisite for AC?

(I wanted to check whether I can insert these target terms from non-AA glossaries by pressing Shift twice and then the first letter of the corresponding source term. So I wanted to see the Match bar again.)

Related: How can I get the Match bar back? I've unticked View > Toolbars > Hide Match bar, but that doesn't bring the Match bar back.

Is it because I've closed the Matchboard?
