I'd like to know how to use CT to translate mqxlz files.

The file is just a zip containing, in my case, two files: an mqxliff and something called skeleton.xml, which I think (I hope!) we can safely ignore.

Now I can extract the xliff and (I assume) translate it in CT, but then what do I send back to the client? What is the format and name of the return zip file? Just the same mqxlz file with the edited xliff? (With the same name? With a language code appended??)

Or does CT take care of all this for you, do I just drag the mqxlz file into CT?

Any help appreciated.

P.S: The xliff has been created using an older version of MemoQ (MemoQ 2015 as far as I can ascertain), so the issues with xliff files produced by newer version raised by Hans elsewhere shouldn't be relevant.

 

Also, please note that I do not have MemoQ itself.

In my opinion you can simply return the MQXLIFF. A return package is not much more than a zipped MQXLIFF.

@Hans, you seem to have a willful blind spot for the fact that the vast majority of clients (and translators for that matter) don't have a clue about file formats and wouldn't know what to do with anything other than exactly what they expect to receive. I think it would help to make the forum a more useful resource if you could start to take this obvious fact into account when posting.

Alternatively, you can let CafeTran zip it via Project > Export and exchange > To Package... (if you are using one of the latest CT updates). Do not overwrite the original (unpacked) .mqxlz package file. The program will give you warning about it.

I surely can understand your frustration about my postings but please take in mind that I'm busy translating too. So, I normally don't have time to write lengthy answers while I'm in the middle of a project. Besides this, English is not my native nor my working language. Luckily, other users normally add any missing or correct any wrong information. That's just how it works, I'm afraid.

Can we have support for memoQ MQOUT packages too, please?
