Creating a project template for proofreading

For final proofreading your projects (after having them QA'd etc.), you can create a project template to easily switch to a non-distracting view.

  • First, save your current window layout in a Project Template: In the Dashboard, click on the Project Template button (the black square with the white horizontal lines), save your Project Template as default.xml.
  • In the Dashboard, close all resources and MT engines etc. Also close all glossaries and memories. Make sure that ProjectTerms and ProjectTM aren't checked.
  • Create a new project from an example document.
  • When the CafeTran interface is displayed, choose Edit > Quick search to disable the Quick search bar.
  • Choose View > Toolbars > Hide toolbars
  • Choose View > Segment editors > Horizontal editors
  • Drag the horizontal bar below the segment editors all the way down to the status bar.
  • Drag the top bar of the segment editors down until you have set the desired height of the segment editors.
  • Close CafeTran.
  • In the Dashboard, click on the Project Template button (the black square with the white horizontal lines), save your Project Template as proofreading.xml.
If everything worked fine, next time you load the Project Template proofreading.xml, CafeTran should look like this:

You can now open a memory. Best, switch it to floating mode, to not disturb your layout.

You can also create a special colour scheme for proofreading.

You can also hide the menus that you don't need from the menu bar (via the View menu). Would be nice if these menu states would be saved in the PT too. Perhaps also a non-distracting tag colour and colour for the non-translatables?

If you have set Project Statistics to automatic updating, you should deactivate this too, prior to creating the Project Template.

Wouldn't it be more ergonomic on wide screens if het segment number bar would be positioned between the source and target column when the segment editors are arranged horizontally?
