Match question

Following scenario

image

Left side: Total recall, low priority

Right side: Glossary, high priority, not case-sensitive

Segment reads: "Objet du Contrat"

The TR match is inserted, what IMHO is a bit annoying (as the case must be readjusted or the glossary match must be clicked).

Question:

  • Do TM matches as such always have priority over glossary matches (despite of being of "low priority")?
  • Or does the capital letter (in "Objet") make the difference here?

The glossaries do not have a concept of exact segment matches so 100% TM exact segment matches override the glossary matches, the same way longer matches override shorter ones.

This is in line with your approach of "All Power to the TM!".

Just four thoughts:

  • Considerung that TMs have priority in the CT concept, wouldn't it make sense to have more flexible ways to add such general fragments as above "on the go" (only this segment) to the opened (or a pre-determined "general") TR table?
  • From a conceptual point of view: Would it make sense to allow or foster a secondary, more TM-based workflow, as many users might be more used to this? If not, wouldn't it make sense to have this TM-based concept ("All Power to the TM!") better documentated?
  • What - in general - about shortcuts for the glossary entries? Indeed I see more disadvantages (no sense when >10 glossary entries, partly resolved with matchboard) than advantages.
  • Wish: Wouldn't it be nice to have the whole glossary entry (consisting of more than one word) inserted when clicking it? Is this too difficult to implement (assuming that CT needs to recognize if a tab is a glossary)?

You can do it via TR table interface - it detects your terms selection in the current segment.

The Matchboard (and Matchbar) already offers such shortcuts - just type the first letter of the match, double-shift and its number, not to mention Auto-completion.

Just click at the entry (target side) in the Matchboard.
