CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 15

Hello,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 15 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20170627_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

  • Automatic fragments adjustment. This a new and experimental feature which picks fragments/terms from the current segment and updates their priority on the fly. It can also adjust to some slight changes in the fragments (e.g. plural forms) creating virtual fragment pairs if their do not exist in your resources. The feature should be very helpful when there are still good matches coming from low quality/priority resources to use in auto-assembling. Then, CafeTran will enhance their status automatically for the current project. Furthermore, it detects term's synonym usage adjusting its priority automatically.
  • Translation Memories panel in the Dashboard can hold up to 100 TMs now.

Wow. I must really work harder!

Translation Memories panel in the Dashboard can hold up to 100 TMs now.

Thanks.

Are these marked in the Matchboard or elsewhere?

Experimental, very, I guess ... I get really strange results during AA now: the word 'and' is replaced by silly suggestions, although the correct translation ('en') is in the glossary. I'll deactivate this experimental feature now:

They are marked during auto-assembling. Yes, you can easily deactivate it if they disturb your fine-tuned resources/glossaries/workflow. As mentioned above, Automatic fragments adjustment is meant to work with low priority resources, and for users who rely on fragments from translation memories rather than specialized glossaries. The feature is given top priority and I encourage other users to test it and provide feedback in a separate forum section.

For very short glossary terms (two or three letters), CT might adjust to longer phrases (in the current segment) that contain those very short terms.

By colour, or how?

This dedicated forum is to be established yet?

They are marked in auto-assembled sentence the same as other fragments.

The second build of this update sets the 3-character limit on the terms/fragments for the automatic adjustment. Please download and repeat the update as described in the announcement post above.

Igor, I forgot to thank you for the dashboard's grid removal (at least with Background grid and transparency OFF in View>Themes, I haven't tested with the setting ON)!
