CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 13

Hi,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 13 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20170609_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

Summary of changes added in the recent builds:

  • Cmd+A selects the whole text in Metal look and feel on Mac computers.
  • For those who find the dark Dashboard too dark on sunny days, the bright option is now available in the Dashboard menu - just uncheck the Coffeehouse theme checkbox.
  • Fuzzy match auto-correction also works if the start and/or the end of the current segment is missing in the fuzzy match, and there are matches in TM, glossary or nontranslatables for those missing parts.
  • Optional binding of CafeTran to Jarte (a powerful Windows text processor).

New features:

  • "Keep out of auto-assembling" option for glossaries can be made permanent by choosing it from the list of priorities.
  • The bright Dashboard theme is set automatically along with bright CafeTran themes.
  • "Improve auto-assembling with Machine Translation" option can be accessed quickly via the right-click at the MT pane.
  • Clicking at "Translate selected fragment" link in the Machine Translation pane shows the original MT result if "Improve auto-assembling with Machine Translation" option is selected.

Have a nice weekend,

Thank you, Igor! Have a splendid weekend too!

Can it be that the remembering of the overruled (manually selected) target term is broken in this build? I select the second or third target term with the left mouse button, but in the next segment the first target term will be used.

See the attached screencast ... The second target term (selecteer) is not AA'd in the next segment, though it has been selected via the left mouse button.

I just ran a test on the MacBook Pro (what are Sundays for but for testing?) and it looks like everything's allright. Must be something different what's bothering on the iMac. Possibly interference of the TM?

I’m curious about this:

"Optional binding of CafeTran to Jarte (a powerful Windows text processor)"

It’s the first time I hear about Jarte. What does "binding to Jarte" mean in practice? In what situation(s) would Jarte be used, and what would be the other alternatives to it? My apologies in advance if it’s a dumb question.

Jarte: http://www.jarte.com

(obviously not Java, as I assumed)

I like and use the Bright theme itself but dislike the bright dashboard theme that is applied to it now. Is it possible to choose the dashboard theme independently? I would like to set a darker theme, as before.

Attaching a screenshot of the current Dashboard on a GTK look with the Bright theme enabled. I find the white does not suit it.

Also, when "Background grid and transparency" is unticked, would it possible (or optional) to remove the grid from the Dashboard as well?

Thank you :-)

Dominique, this Solutions page may help better understand where Jarte comes in (it is one of the several supported external editors, just one more choice now, for Windows users):

The attachment did not make it.

Is it possible to choose the dashboard theme independently?

Sure. Please select "Coffehouse theme" in the Dashboard menu next to the language pairs.

Perfect, thank you pointing me to the "Coffeehouse theme" option! I had somehow missed it.

Attaching the white and dark Dashboard versions.

The bright Dashboard theme looks quite nice on Linux GTK too, and is a bit more legible when you translate outside on a bright day.

I guess it comes down to personal preferences (and of course work environment!).

It's nice to be able to use the dark dashboard with the Bright theme though.

Now, about this grid... :-)

That's a part of the Coffeehouse theme now. It may be possible to sync it with the main UI grid option for the next update.
