CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 10

Hi,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 10 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20170517_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

The update 10 is a maintenance update summing up a few builds released after the update 9. Furthermore, the following fixes and improvements have been made:

  • "Replace all" also does the replacement in the target segment being edited.
  •  Auto-correction (via CTRL+Space shortcut) of a spelling mistake at the cursor position instead of the position at the last red-underlined word.
  • Fixed an issue with the MS Excel filter when the translator uses an MS Excel glossary as a resource.

Marco: Any idea about what can be the problem?

Not really, but I noticed you're trying to update Ichiro. It could very well be that that version is too old to be updated that way. Try downloading the latest complete version, Yeddi (but don't delete  Ichiro yet for your settings unless you have a Time Machine back-up).

Marco, I am not sure but I think you are still trying to install CafeTran and update it at the same time, hence the error. The installation is done via dragging CafeTran red icon into the Applications folder icon. I wonder if you have ever installed in the Applications or only run it from the installer volume directly? So please make sure it is installed in the Applications. As Hans suggested, you can install the latest version from scratch, downloading it first from https://www.cafetran.com/download-for-mac, instead of updating. You would need to remove the old version before.

This is so nice :)

Häppy!

I noticed there is no article for "Installing CafeTran Espresso on OS X" in Solutions.

While the installation is pretty straightforward, it might make sense to add an entry there.

I agree with this last comment.

Where I have to place the file once downloaded? Should I leave it in the downloads folder or put it in the Applications folder?

Thanks,

Marco

Downloading from scratch worked :-)

The only question I still have is where to put the file I downloaded. Thanks!,

On a Mac, it doesn't really matter. The most obvious location would be your Applications folder, but any folder would do.

I also doubt Igor's words (that's dangerous, I know) on deleting the older version. As long as it isn't in the same directory with the same name, there's no need to delete the older version. I have several CafeTran versions on my system, and they all run.

The thing is, that you may want to move files (spelling dictionary, .res files, etc.) to the new version, and you may want to check your preferences against the old version. If you delete the old version before installing the new one, you're lost.

Silly moi: As long as it isn't in the same directory with the same name

In that case, it will be overwritten, of course...
