CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 9

Hi,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 9 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20170508_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

  • Project templates. This update adds the templates feature which stores in a template file the selected CafeTran resources from the Dashboard (Total Recall memories, TMX translation memories, glossaries and Web resources), language pair, windows layout and colors to use for a new project. See the new menu button next to the language pair boxes in the Dashboard to save or load project templates.
  • Total Recall memories with segments in regional variants of a given language are recognized automatically in the projects with a different variant for the same language.
  • Remembering the state of the new previously unconfirmed segments when leaving them unfinished in the target segment editor (e.g. by switching to the Filter view).
  • Resetting the preferences does not reset the language pair, the list of recent projects and selected resources in the Dashboard.
  • New segment navigation command - "Add segment to memory and go to next untranslated segment" (default keyboard shortcut - CTRL+ENTER).

Fantastic! Thanks!!

Default Scope search shortcut has been moved by default to : Ctrl+Maj+G (was Ctrl+Enter)

No tooltip for this button:

No tooltip for this button

There is one down at the status bar.

Yes. But this is also true for the X at the left of that button. It has a tooltip and a descriptive text at the status bar.

Hello,

After this update, Memory > Open memories folder > Filter is not working.

It has a tooltip and a descriptive text at the status bar.

The shorter tooltip right at that new button is a good idea. Thanks!

The new build (2017050802) of the update 9 got the tooltip for the templates button. The memory filter issue has been fixed too.

Igor, thank you for this update!

Just a heads up: I have noticed that with this version, nothing happens when I try to Add or Replace a document, which I have been able to reproduce in a few test projects. Remove document works as expected.

> nothing happens when I try to Add or Replace a document,

Thanks! Fixed in the build 2017050803.

I updated and now Microsoft Translator shows up and crowds out Google Translate, Linguee, Leo, Statistics. I can't see any of that when I click on the respective tab - just the top of a web page of Microsoft Translator. How can I get rid of it?

Please update to today's build (2017051001). If the crowding occurs again, submit a support ticket with the attached image of the web interface.

Some observations
  1. there is no way to delete templates from the dashboard
  2. CT takes any xml file into the submenu from the folder where the first xml file was saved
  3. so it even takes these files after renaming their extension to old_xml (guessing xml is the trigger to include them)
  4. it also loads any xml files in this folder that contain preferences (this was the reason for that after a CT restart, the panes were empty and the font sizes had been reset – a very old preferences backup was included and opened) – maybe these files should be renamed to example.ctt (for "CafeTran template")
  5. the trouble from 4 has reset my whole preferences – not so nice ...
  6. I could save another template as such, without the extension -> template is not being found in the submenu, if not opened by hand
  7. I can save any other resource with being forced to specify a save location (e.g. web resources), os isn't that unlogical – this reminds a bit of earlier days with the res files
