CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 3

Hello everyone,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 3 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20170310_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

  • Improved mixing of custom formatting with transferred formatting.
  • Fixed calculation of the translation speed per minute in the statistics.
  • Added "Session duration" to the statistics.
  • Blocked auto-propagation of source segments with numbers when there is no number in the corresponding target segment.
  • Added "Show term information" right-click option to the display of ProZ.com and TM-Town.com search results.
  • Added the horizontal/vertical docking tabs option to enhance the personal adjustment of the user interface. It is available in the menu after right-clicking at the tab title. You will need to undock the currently-docked tabs before applying this new option.

Enjoy your weekend,

Igor

My bad, I confirm it's there, I must have forgotten how to do it and tried to right click on the drop-down list itself!

When I applied the update, and tried the option while using Window layout 2, the vertical option was applied, but if they are designed to switch to the horizontal option in that layout, then all good for me :-)

Thank you for your quick reply.

Also, "Show term information" is very nice.

the way you write makes it seem like I can have two cursors placed at two different points?

Yes, that's exactly my point. Before you make a split, you can place the cursor at the splitting positions both in the current source and target segment. CafeTran performs two splits simultaneously.

Your version is correct. You may need to set the "Vertical tabs divider" after right-clicking at the aligned documents tab and restart the program, or disjoin the tabs and join them again with the changed option.

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the update and improvements.

I noticed a bit of a bug with my last project. I have short files (~20-30 segments), which fit entirely in the grid pane and longer files (100+ segments) that don't fit and "activate" the navigation arrows in the upper right corner. However, if I work on a short file and then switch to a longer file within the same work session, the arrows don't toggle back on and I can't navigate quickly except by clicking the small numbers associated with segments.

Similarly, when I load a long file first, the navigation arrows appear and remain even when a shorter file is then loaded.

Igor,

Before this update I ticked the boxes I now framed in red and they remained ticked. Now I have to tick them every time. What do I do that they remain as last used?

It's the first time I'm doing this, so I'm not sure if the update caused it to not work as it should, or it's working as it should but I don't realize it - but I'm trying to merge two files together. Upon selecting merge on the top page and choosing the files I'm sent to the usual screen to work, however, when I choose "Join target segments" it also joins the source segments. This prevents me from getting rid of an empty block in the target area as it's combining the source one two in which I have to split it again... rinse and repeat.

Could you check into this for me? Thank you!

*as it's combining the source one, too.

Ugh... one two... one too... forgive me :p

I understand that you align two files. In the manual alignment workflow, "Join source segments" or "Join target segments" work independently for either source or target segments at the head of alignment, that is, for new and unaligned segments only. However, if you move back to the already aligned segment, then joining segments affects both the source and the target segment at the same time.

Did you make the straight update from update 2 or from some earlier version? Nothing has been change in this function in recent 2017 updates.

Straight from Update 2 to Update 3. Everything worked fine with Update 2. Now I have to tick the boxes each time I open a project.
