CafeTran Espresso 2017 - Yeddi Update 2

Hi,

CafeTran Espresso 2017 Yeddi update 2 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20170302_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.

What's new:

  • Added the locked segment status for CafeTran projects. The locking segment status works in non-CafeTran projects for the current session only. It does not interfere with the segments locked in other tools.
  • Two new tasks to lock and unlock filtered segments in CafeTran projects.
  • Locked segments do not get converted to the translation memory via Project > Export > To TMX memory... action.
  • Turning on/off the auto-propagation of single segments via the right-click at the source segment pane. It replaces the auto-propagation blocked by alternative translations.
  • Filtering of Matchboard results via the double-shift shortcut both in the source and target segment editor. The filtering is incremental, that is, you can type or select the first characters of the match and press the Shift key twice. For example, type the first two letters of the matched source fragment and press the shift key twice to display the matches starting with the typed characters.
  • Corrected the filtering of numbers in Excel cells. Please complete any current MS Excel projects before updating.
  • Simplifying the non-translatables glossary format to one column to reuse the entries in other languages.
  • Highlighting of the whole phrases present in the fuzzy match in the order different than in the source segment.

Have a nice afternoon,

Igor

The incremental match pick-up feature is a great time saver. Thanks!

I'm not sure, but should there be a display filter for locked/unlocked too?

Actually, I was hoping for such an exclusion for Memory > Import segments from project, as this is the main way to spoil a good TM with bogus pre-translated and then locked (by the client!) segments.

Great update!

I just noticed a "WIWO automatic popup dialog" setting in Web services.

What is its function?

Also, I really like the dropdown list in the Segments editor for choosing between Translate/Check/Lock modes. An elegant solution.

However, is there a possibility to move to the next (or previous) segment without changing status to checked or locked in this mode?

In fact, when using the Check feature, it would be great to be able to toggle Checked/Unchecked status or  change to Unchecked without having to use the context menu in the Source editor (keyboard shortcut).

Locked  segments are skipped there too.

That's a feature activated when you use ProZ.com services. Please check it here for more details:  https://www.proz.com/wiwo

Once you change the Translate status to Check or Lock, you don't need to keep selecting it at each new segment. The state is toggled for the rest of subsequent segments so once you change it, it remains the current state.

Reversing the state (e.g. from Check back to Translate) is a bit hidden - via the right click at the source segment editor - because it is much less frequent action.

You're welcome! There is an interesting side-effect to this feature. It enables really fast selection of single words to add them to the TM or glossary if they are not present in the Machboard:

Double-shift in the source pane, double-shift in the target pane and add the pair to your resource.

Indeed, it's interesting and very welcome.

Igor, thank you for your answers, much appreciated.

Hi Igor,

The formatting shortcuts work well, except a couple of times, it produced garbled text in the target pane and froze the segment panes. Not sure in what circumstances it did that. A restart cleared everything, but nevertheless, maybe there is a fix for this intermittent problem. (CT for Mac on El Cap). Next time it happens I'll try to grab a screenshot.

This is what happened when I applied cmd+I. It only happens intermittently!

Hello! Stupid question perhaps, but how do you unlock a locked segment? I've locked one and now I'm trying to unlock it through right-click and uncheck "lock", but it stays locked :-(

Hi Elisabetta,

You can unlock all the locked segments in one go via the Task > Unlock segments. If you wish to unlock individual segments, first you need to uncheck Action > Skip > Locked segments to access locked segments and unlock them.
