CafeTran Espresso 2016 Ichiro - Update 27

Hi,


CafeTran Espresso 2016 Ichiro - Update 27 is available for download. The update can be performed via the Drag & Drop procedure as follows:


1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20161128_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.


Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

 

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.


Alternatively, you can install the update via the Update button in the Help > About panel instead of dragging and dropping.


What's new:

  • Fuzzy matches Auto-correction with non-translatable fragments.
  • Auto-tagger: inserting matches along with formatting tags in the target segment.
  • The Matchboard displays full glossary entry even when only its prefix/stem is matched.
  • The Matchboard displays one entry for numerous duplicates where both source and target are the same.
  • Fixed F2 shortcut for displaying matches in CJK languages.
  • Auto-completion also works when deleting characters via the Backspace key.
  • Check for invalid characters in the project name.

Hi Kathleen,


As Dropbox has changed its link sharing policy recently, the links to last year updates do not work. I have just updated this update 27 link from last year. However, I suggest you go straight to the latest 2017 update 4 here or hold on until the coming update 5 is available soon.

I somehow missed out on all these updates - is 27 the latest? And is it still available anywhere? The dropbox link says it's no longer there. Thanks!

You don't need to update if you are happy with your current version. However, I would recommend updating at least once a year during the break between your projects. The coming final release of CafeTran Espresso 2017 is a good opportunity for the update.

Stupid question, I know, but am I supposed to update to every new version of Cafetran or else it won't work anymore (after some time)?

If the intended behavior is to display matches in order of appearance, this improvement is still unstable. And it seems that MatchBar is "sometimes" affected.

Igor, how about not changing my settings when I update?

 

You can toggle the automatic case adjustment with the "Edit -- Target segment -- Automatic case adjustment" menu option.
Having skipped a few updates, I've just installed this one and all of a sudden CT is automatically changing the first letter in each segment to upper case. I can't find an option to disable this exasperating feature. (I tried "Beginning of sentence only" in auto-assembling, but it's not that.) Please make it stop.

Copy the SQLiteMemoryBase.db from:


the old CafeTran.app/Contents/Java/resources/databases/


to the new CafeTran.app/Contents/Java/resources/databases/


replacing the file.

Names were okay, I had to delete and reinstall.


Thanks but, is there any way to retrieve my memory tables? I didn't export them to a TMX file and I can't find them anymore.

Make sure the file names are exaclty the same especially the Cafetran.jar name.


If the above does not help:


1. Delete CafeTran.app.

2. Download and install CafeTran for Mac in the exactly the same location (by default the Applications folder on Mac) where it was installed before.

Hi Igor, I've just done that but now my problem is worse.

I have replaced the folders "graphics", "lib", "infos" and the file "caftan.jar"  from the update in the folder "Java" of the Cafetran app (I'm on Mac Sierra).

Everything seems fine until I try to open CT. I just doesn't even open...

I knew I was getting into trouble!

Hi Kevin,


The update may fail if you installed CafeTran in the cloud e.g. Google Drive (syncing issue) or one of the installation subfolders is set 'read only" in your system. Then, unzip the update file and copy the files into the corresponding locations in your CafeTran installation, replacing the previous versions of the files. You can skip the .res files which you are not using.
