If you watch (and listen, the music to all those vids is great) the first video of the KB, you'll see this:

However, when you then run CT, you'll see something like this:

Now how encouraging would that be for a new user? And wasn't there a demented old fart who, at the beginning of this Year of the Lord 2016, pleaded to leave the UI alone for at least a year?

It’s pretty much a moving target indeed. Here is a comment someone posted a couple of days on my YouTube channel:

Well, sorry, but I’m not going to do a new video with each update (even within the main version) that once again made radical changes to the UI. I believe it doesn’t promote adoption of the tool. 

Yes, that's only realistic.

On a side note: only yesterday I remembered what a great initiative this is of yours, to compare various CAT tools via this simple example project. Very useful.

I know that you:

• Don't want to change parameters in between.
• Want to limit the screen time.

At first sight the difference appears quite huge. But the main specs & characteristics (with the exception of the Total Recall box) are the same. Anybody working the the 2016 early version will be able to switch to the 2016 late version.

At least we see that the 2016 has become more appealing.

But that's not my point. It's about new users who just enjoyed Igor's screencast, and the very first thing they're confronted with when they run CT is something completely different from what they just saw.

But apart the first impression, let me be the advocatus diaboli: Would the experience be very different with keeping the colors from the early version?

• First row: nearly the same, only a bit repositioned, dropdown list reworked
  
• Second row: Buttons have moved, more colors.
  
• Boxes: new TR box, one box (resources) split, possibility to drag the margins right/left and up/down
  
• new buttons

Probably not. But I think it's important the KB entries reflect the actual situation as much as possible, especially the first steps. So I think Igor should re-record his screencasts. Serves him well (other people who wrote about CT got frustrated about things like this).
