Where to configure DESKTOP SEARCH TOOL

Hello

Where do you configure a desktop search tool?

Thanks in advance,

Ronnie

Hi,
Preferences - General

Thank you very much, Alain!

Next questions:
1) What does "Terminal tool" mean?
2) Are there instructions for how to use this feature? I couldn't find any.

TIA again,

Ronnie

The terminal tool option simply uses your computer's terminal (but displays the search results inside Cafetan).

For the instructions... what is your OS?

Hi Alain, thanks for explaining the terminal tool.

I have Windows 10.

On Windows 10, you can install Sylver Searcher (ag.exe), then use this line for Desktop Search:

ag.exe -i {} C:\folder path

(You may also have to specify the folder of your ag.exe program (C:\ag.exe or whatever.)

It will work if you search for words that contain only simple letters (a to z), not with diacritics or languages like Japanese, Chinese and so on.

I think you can also use Findstr.

I'm not on Windows anymore, but when I was, AstroGrep was a good solution, though I used it separately (not with Cafetran's Desktop Search).

I'll give it a try when I'm done with my current project.

Thanks for all the help!
