Find & Replace with shortcut

I can mark any text in the segment panes and search for it with Cmd-F.

However, when the window is already open and the search field ist already filled (or not), it is impossible to do so.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Cmd-F shortcut just pops-up the Find & Replace panel. The Find keyboard shortcuts are displayed in the 'Edit > Find at cursor' menu.

That's true.

But marking a word and hitting Cmd-F opens the F&R panel with the word in  the ‚Find‘ field.

Then, leaving the F&R panel open, marking another word and hitting Cmd-F does nothing. That's not logical at all. And IMHO the F&R panel still has some advantages compared to the search bar (though I use both).

I would also be nice that the search bar not simply remembers the last settings from the F&R panel (that are frequently changed), but to have its own.

If I remember correctly, CafeTran used to work that way. I'm sure Hans will have an old screenshot of the search bar showing this.

The times, they are changing.

But CafeTran is still the greatest CAT tool ever.

And Igor is still the best.

Indeed, I agree. And Igor deserves an active, helpful and constructive community. ;-)

I agree!

Hi Torsten,

I think that you are completely on the right track with your recent postings about tiny improvements needed to make CafeTran's behaviour more consistent (not that it's inconsistent at all, but there's always room for improvement everywhere) and more intuitive (which mostly is another word for 'sticking to dominant (Windows) design principles).

I really enjoy your postings. We had Michael for the big innovative ideas, now we have guys like you for the Feinschliff ;). Many thanks!
