Field settings

Hello,

from a new proud owner of CT following 20 years with Trados with much hardship and loss of money.

Even though I got started pretty quick I do have few questions:

- Are there any field settings where I can infer the client's name, the source language of the documents, project manager etc.?

- Do I need "MYMemory MT" or can I switch it off somewhere?

- I there an option to count standard lines (55 characters including spaces). A person offering this kind os software could make some money, because there is no such thing for Mac as is for Windows (e.g. PractiCount, Anycount etc.). I searched for days on end and couldn't find anything

- How can I increase the font size in the pane where the concordance results appear?

Thank you for your help and best regards

Nicolette

You took your time.

When you set up a project, or in the Project Configuration (under File in the Menu).

You can disable it in Edit | Preferences | MT services.

I don't know.

Moi: I don't know.

But I suppose it can be found in either the Statistics or Billing preferences.

There currently is no default feature for this, but see my request here.

Regarding your suggestion to the developer, some years ago I respectfully suggested the same: CafeCount, a free or low-priced counting app.

People who don't want to spend money, can probably create it themselves. I think it isn't too difficult (no/hardly any scripting skills required) to create an Automator Workflow that does the following:

  • Activate Statistics in CT
  • Save the Statistics
  • Open them in a spreadsheet
  • Select the appropriate cell

  • Copy the value to clipboard
  • Close spreadsheet
After that, you could continue the Workflow, and
  • Open an invoice template
  • Paste the value in the appropriate cell
or
  • Divide the value by 55 (or other value, would require extra Workflows)
  • Multiply with your rate

Wait a minute... Now what's this?

Hello,

Thank you for your replies! I will certainly check out the billing option with the 55 characters.
Have a nice weekend
