CafeTran Espresso 2016 Ichiro - Update 4

Hello everyone,


CafeTran Espresso 2016 Ichiro - Update 4 is available for download. The users who purchased the program after 22 April 2015, in the new licensing system, do not have to install it anew. They can update it via a simple drag and drop procedure as follows:


1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20160328_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.


Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.


3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.


4. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program. Second time!

    The step 4 above is only for the users who missed the preview (Harbinger) and Ichiro updates with the new icon sets.


The Ichiro update 4 brings the following improvements and changes:


  • Optional fuzzy matching for fragments in Translation Memories. The function performs the look-up of word stems defined in Hunspell spell-check dictionaries.
  • Searching Proz.com Term Questions.
  • Export of all segments via the system clipboard in the Clipboard Workflow.
  • Floating the match bar and search bar together and separately now.
  • Automatic transfer of the selected text from web resource panes to the target window.
  • Improved the eye-friendly green theme - Image background dark.
  • Two new tab docking options which enable to dock tabs to the main window both vertically and horizontally - very useful and nice-looking in large monitors especially.
  • The new Project > Replace document... function for the translation of another version of the source document.
  • Fixed the drag and drop error on Mac OS X which appeared after updating to the latest Java 1.8.0_77 version.

Thank you Igor,

I spent a few hours today trying to fix it by myself, and things kept going worst (in short : at the end CT was completly useless).

Then I jinstalled the newest file (from Help > About), and CT seems to be back to life.
Hi neither the drag and drop, not the update are working for me, for some reason. Should I just download again? Happy to, but it only seems to offer me the free version...

You'll probably have to request a new license key. Especially when you installed CafeTran in a different folder or account.

Did you try to apply the update file via the menu Help > About > Install update button instead of dragging and dropping it?

Yes, I did, but nothing happened. So, I then tried to open the dmg file I had downloaded after the applications file had opened by doing Help > About > Install update, but again, nothing happened. I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, but I can't work out what. Should I update to the previous version? I've just been using the one I downloaded in November/December 2015?

Are you sure you dropped the update on the dashboard? The update is not a *.dmg, like the latest (full) version.

Hi, the dmg was my attempt to overcome the problem by downloading the whole thing again. I've abandoned that. Dropping on the dashboard doesn't work... even though I have Java 18.8.77. But neither does the workaround suggested earlier in this chain via Help.

I just did it again and update via help worked!!! Sorry for the panicky messages. I rely on Cafetran hugely for my work... lost without it and deadlines looming.

I tried this feature for the first time today. It's not working. Any particular settings required? (My example is as simple as "records" [source segment] for "record" [TM fragment]).

Make sure it is activated it in Edit > Preferences > Memory tab > Look up word stems.

It is activated ( and it is, by default).
