CafeTran Espresso 2016 Ichiro - Update 4

Hello everyone,

CafeTran Espresso 2016 Ichiro - Update 4 is available for download. The users who purchased the program after 22 April 2015, in the new licensing system, do not have to install it anew. They can update it via a simple drag and drop procedure as follows:

1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20160328_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.

Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.

3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.

4. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program. Second time!

The step 4 above is only for the users who missed the preview (Harbinger) and Ichiro updates with the new icon sets.

The Ichiro update 4 brings the following improvements and changes:

  • Optional fuzzy matching for fragments in Translation Memories. The function performs the look-up of word stems defined in Hunspell spell-check dictionaries.
  • Searching Proz.com Term Questions.
  • Export of all segments via the system clipboard in the Clipboard Workflow.
  • Floating the match bar and search bar together and separately now.
  • Automatic transfer of the selected text from web resource panes to the target window.
  • Improved the eye-friendly green theme - Image background dark.
  • Two new tab docking options which enable to dock tabs to the main window both vertically and horizontally - very useful and nice-looking in large monitors especially.
  • The new Project > Replace document... function for the translation of another version of the source document.
  • Fixed the drag and drop error on Mac OS X which appeared after updating to the latest Java 1.8.0_77 version.

Happy Monday,

Igor

Igor, I always download the zip file in my Download folder, then I drag it inside CT. It works all the time, but today it didn't, and I cannot use CT anymore.

I haven't changed the update method in any way. Please submit a support ticket to help you find out the solution.

Igor, I remember that I updated Java yesterday. Here is what I get:

alains-mbp:~ alaincote$ java -version
java version "1.8.0_60"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_60-b27)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.60-b23, mixed mode)

It looks like you have updated or installed JDK (Java Development Kit). CafeTran runs on JRE (Java Runtime Environment) and its latest version is 1.8.0_77. Can you update or install it if is not installed?

Hi Igor,

I completely removed JDK and reinstalled JRE 1.8.0_77. It works in Firefox, and I can open my previous projects in CT. But the other problem remains: I cannot install CT's update zip file (I get the previous error message, then CT crashes).

In the terminal, "java -version" gives the following message:
No Java runtime present, requesting install.

Weird... I can use CT (if I don't try to update it).
Any clue?
Of course the cause must be found. As a work-around: save your user files. Download the full app. Move it to the Application folder, overwriting the old app. Inject your user files.

Hi Alain,

Can you first place the update file on your desktop and then drag and drop it from there? What error message do you get then? Make sure the name of the update file (20160328_update.zip) remains unchanged.

Igor

OK, here is what I get when I drag and drop the zip file from the desktop:

And when I click on OK, CT closes.

(Note: I haven't tried Hans' suggestion above. Not yet...)

Have you tried updating via the menu Help > About > Install update?

@ Igor: Have you tried updating via the menu Help > About > Install update?

Thanks Igor, it worked :-)

Hi Igor,

I bought the new version of Cafetran in January. Do I have to download all the other updates before this one?

Thanks,

Claire

Hi Claire,

In this case, installing the last update will do.

Igor

Thank you, Igor.

Claire

On Mac OS X, the latest Java 1.8.0_77 update broke the drag and drop function in CafeTran. The function has been adjusted to the latest Java update now. Please download and reapply the latest CafeTran's update 4 via the Help > About > "Install update" button if dragging and dropping of the update file gives the error message on your Mac. The current CafeTran Espresso build is 2016040301 - Ichiro.
