CafeTran and Microsoft Publisher

Is there any way to work on MS Publisher files and to export them back?

- You can export a MS Publisher file to Word (but there is no real way back, I think the "Import Word" command won't give satisfying results)

- You can export it as PDF, XPS or HTML file (and a whole bunch of other file formats, but, as far as I understand, there is no way back)

- There is an app for that over at the Studio OpenExchange App Store to convert pub to XML, but I they not state anything about the way back, and there are no hints about the compatibility

- I read anywhere that Fluency might take this task. Is this for real (a purely rhetoric question, indeed)?

I have Publisher 2007 and I can see and edit the file without any problems.

Is there any workflow with CT (clipboard will only work with PDF, I assume) that might reproduce a real pub file in the target language?

BTW: Nice to see that in this small world it is Hans who has posted a solution in the memoQ forum, but only one way.

Hi Torsten,

CafeTran does not support the MS Publisher files directly. However, you can translate them in the clipboard workflow which is not limited to any file format:

Import translatable content : pushes the translated text in the XML target file back into the MS Publisher file

Thanks Hans, but they state it must be done with Publisher 2010 (and not 2007). Having a bit more of time, I will see if this is concerning the version compatibility in both directions or only in one.

And thanks Igor, I really thought the CB workflow was only for PDFs.
