Total newbie

 Hello!

I downloaded the trial version to see if I like this program, I want to translate from norwegian into english, but the software wont translate. I took two screenshot to show, it is saying spanish which I have to idea why it does.

Hope you can help me! :)

Hi Henrikke,

It looks like MyMemory machine translation service does not recognize your source language automatically. Please set it as follows:

  1. Go to Edit > Preferences > MT Services tab > MyMemory section.
  2. Select Norwegian as the source language.
  3. Press OK.

Igor

Thanks!

Is it possible to translate from pdf file?

Great,

Last question, is it possible to translate a section with text without getting all these red numbers like under here?

Try with the MS Word OCR filter instead.

Curious!

Google Translate has no problems:

When you create a new project, somewhere in the Project Configuration dialogue box you will see: MS Word, you'd have to click on that and change it to MS Word OCR instead. That should fix it.

I can only find something with MS like in this picture, but you mean something else?

Such tags probably mean that you are translating a document after it was OCR. CafeTran has a special filter for documents like this one

When you create a new project with such a document, please choose Ms Word OCR from the list of file types in the Project Configuration panel. Remember to switch back to the normal filer if you translate a Ms Word document that was not after OCR.

Knowledgeable people already gave splendid advice, so this may be a redundant comment.

I also sometimes feel those red things to be visually irritating.

Then, I go to View > Colors > Tags color, and change the color to one that is not irritating (such as whitish grey, or one that is very similar to the background color). If you've done this, you need to restart CT for the new setting to be active.

And Check (select) Action > Tags > Automatic transfer of remaining tags.

Now, those irritating pieces of reddish carrot are virtually invisible, and I can proceed happily without being bothered by them.

Cheers to you,
