But I draggded the packed sdlppx file onto Cafetran and it extracted the sdlxliff files on its own. Are they unpacked somewhere? If yes, where?

At the sdlppx file location.

To re-open an sdlppx file, just drag and drop it once again. This will not overwrite anything.
