Often, I'm amazed at some CAT tool developers' lack of flexibility in their approach to system development/improvement.
They know that CAT tools compare the source segment against a TM, but are not flexible enough to notice that a TM can be compared against the source segment to get exact TM matches for "parts of the source segment," which are very useful for translators.
Technically, it should be as simple as searching the source segment for a certain string of characters (however long it may be).
So, this is not a technical issue, but indicates their narrow views on what an ideal CAT tool would be like (if there will ever be such a thing).
I don't need a mummified CAT tool.
