>1. What is the difference between “Insert Machine Translation” , “ auto-assembling panel” and “automatic insertion of matches” ???
I'm not sure what function “Insert Machine Translation” refers to, where did you find it in the GUI?
The auto-assembling panel is a small window that will show you the results of the auto-assembling process. When you're happy with them, you can instruct CafeTran to insert hem into the Target segment pane. You can call this panel manually (F1) or let CafeTran show it automatically when you navigate to a new segment (either via Edit > Options > Auto-assembling panel, or via Translation > Options > Auto-assembling panel
I guess that “Automatic insertion of matches” (in Edit > Options) refers to the automatic insertion of fuzzy matches, am I right guys? Nope ...:
Automatic insertion of matches
When the option is on, CafeTran inserts the Auto-assembly result straight into the target language box.
2. Am I supposed to see in the pane the entire TM loaded or only the corresponding matches ?
Directly after loading a TM, you can scroll through the whole TM. Afterwards (when navigating from segment to segment), you will only get a number of relevant (similar) matches. You can adjust the number via Edit > Options > Memory > FM display limit (1-6).
3. Same question for glossary
Directly after loading a glossary, you can scroll through the whole glossary. Afterwards (when navigating from segment to segment), you will only get the recognised terms.
4. I Have loaded a TM consisting of 2731 segments in but when it’s loaded I can see only from segment 2682 to segment 2731
You can scroll to the beginning. Hmm, cannot find that button anymore.
5. How do I get the Google API key ? is it free? Same question for Microsoft translator?
You can find that here: http://wordfast.fi/blog/category/cat-tools/
6. What is the Machine translation by default in CT? Is it “Mymemory MT” ?
Yes, it contains results from Google Translate, Bing Translator and their own resources.
7. In the TM menu :
->what is the “processing tags” box for?
For now: just always tick it.
-> what is “termbase”? ( I thought it applies to a glossary , not a TM)
It's an alternative for a glossary that allows fuzzy searching of terms.
Two ways to store terms in CafeTran
• In Termbases which are TMX files
• In Glossaries: tab-delimited, plain-text files
And finally what is the difference between a hit and fuzzy match ?
A FM is a match for a whole segment. A hit is a match for a part of a segment (if I'm not mistaken, but please do correct me if I'm wrong).
> 4. I Have loaded a TM consisting of 2731 segments in but when it’s loaded I can see only from segment 2682 to segment 2731
Anytime during the translation, you can browse through both TM and glossary entries via the right-click at the TM or glossary pane and choose the arrow buttons. By default, CafeTran displays 50 segments at a time - one page of 50 segments.

> Afterwards (when navigating from segment to segment), you will only get a number of relevant (similar) matches.
You can also navigate between segments afterwards via the right-click context menu.
Charlotte pointed out an interesting point:
When starting a project, it would be nice to see the very first segments first, and not the last ones. This would be the behavior to expect, wouldn't it? Is there any real advantage when seeing the last segments? The actual CT version shows the whole number of segments anyway.
Browse TMs and Termbases:
Browse Glossaries:
(The wording of 'Show memory segments' should be changed too.)
1) Why would you want to browse a resource? You can search them by entering a term in the err, search field:
When you create a project by dropping another project (Trados, Transit, etc.) on the dashboard, none of the above happens. A project glossary will be saved in the same folder as the dropped project (I think. I don't use *.txt glossaries)
FreshDesk is pure and utter faeces.
