How to deal with TMX files?

A colleague asks:

How to deal with TMX files? The main things I want to do are:

1. Search a pool of TM files for occurrences of a single word/group of words or phrases, etc.

2. Edit/change a word or phrase without having to launch a given project

3. Organise TMs (virtually) by customer for quicker searches

Hmm, apart from point 2, LogiTerm does an amazing job of exactly these things.

Michael

Oh, I forgot: This colleague is using a Mac too.

Search a pool of TM files for occurrences of a single word/group of words or phrases, etc.

Import them in CT's SQLite database. By far the easiest and fastest way.

Alternatives: Spotlight can search TMX files (since Yosemite) if they are not too big. DocFetcher is quite nice. Create your own rDBS

Use an editor, e.g. TextWrangler.

Me no understand. SmartFolders?

H.

Yes, SmartFolders. Open a Finder window, search for the customer and TMX files, and save the search as a SmartFolder.

You'll end up with a virual folder that contains nothingness, only links to the TMX files of that particular customer. I use them for different criteria:

The lower two folders are Smart. The other folders are Stupid.
