CafeTran Espresso 2015 Update 12

The update 12 to CafeTran Espresso 2015 is available for download. The users who purchased the program after 22 April 2015, in the new licensing system, do not have to install it anew. They can update it via a simple drag and drop procedure as follows:


1. Run CafeTran.

2. Download 20151116_update.zip file from here (do not unzip or rename the file after downloading) and place it on your desktop.


Note: On Mac OSX, the Safari web browser may unzip the file automatically after downloading. To prevent this, just use the right-click menu and choose the "Download Linked File" command.


3. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program.


4. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Project Dashboard and restart the program. Second time!

    The step 4 above is only for users who missed the update 10 with the new icon sets.


The update includes the following changes:


1. Joining a translation memory to another opened translation memory is back. See the Memory > Join memory.. menu.

2. Listing of the web resources is in the alphabetic order in the Dashboard.

3. Nicer and clearer display of the workflow tips in the Dashboard.

Now I'll have to adjust my Desktop background colour again ...

Doesn't everyone call these memories "TMs"?


Would it be a good idea to rename [x] Project memory to [x] Project TM and [ ] Memories folder to [ ] TM folder?

Thanks, Igor, for bringing back the "Join memory" feature.

And I like the new, high-contrast Dashboard colour scheme!

Hi Hans,


CafeTran may hang if any of the merged memories is corrupted. You can submit a ticket and attach a zipped folder with those TMs for me to look into them.

One of the Japanese users reported that the update did not display the Japanese characters correctly in the Search box. They are displayed as squares there. Instead of fixing it in the next update, I included the fix in the same update 12. Therefore, the users who experience the issue, please apply the update again.

BTW: I was yesterday telling my girlfriend about your great voice. On the couch. How sick is that? The reason was some commercial on the Dutch television, where a German voice-over, in English gave a comment. I said: Hey, that's what my good friend Wolfi also does.

Oh man just realised, for Germans, "Zie looks of zie Dashboard" must not sound like Inspecteur Clouseau at all. More like hackzack. Tsie.

I'm soooo stressed, 90 kWords in Corean English, can you figure that?

You have my full sympathy. Ever considered fishing?


On a more serious note: I'm actually considering to refuse anymore large projects like that. As we say in Dutch: ze tasten mijn levensgeluk echt aan.


I'm working hard to make the second half of my life annoyance-free. The complete avoidance of Studio would be a great first step in that attempt.


I am not kidding.

Agreed about Studio. These days I was asking myself what I do need other CAT tools for. I have Cafetran, so no need for any other tool. Will not update (MQ, DVX, Studio, etc.) anymore and save the money to buy myself a fisherboat. Yes!
